Man. United vs Liverpool: United’s Last Chance to Clinch a Title This Season

Manchester United’s season already looks to be a downgrade from the season they had last time out when Erik Ten Hag took charge of the team but they can still win a trophy before it ends but that means they will have to beat Liverpool in the FA Cup.

Erik Ten Hag’s Red Devils could secure their place in the semi-final of this season’s FA Cup when Liverpool visit the Old Trafford on Sunday in what could be a welcome reality for United fans as their current reality sees them 6th in the league, 17 points from 1st.

On the other hand, Liverpool will be looking to make it their second semi-final this season, after making the semi-final of the Carabao EFL Cup and going all the way to win it, underlining Liverpool’s commitment to collect all silverware on offer this season.

Go Go, Man. United or Go Home Ten Hag?

When Manchester United faces Liverpool this Sunday Ten Hag will be the one to have the most at stake as his job may depend on how this game goes with United's season having gone the way it has.

Man. United, FA Cup finalist last season, have been fortunate enough to not have met a stronger opposition en route to the quarters after away wins over Wigan, Newport County, and Nottingham.

So it will be very damning if the very first top side they face eliminates them from the competition and while the owners, executives, and playing body will all have been responsible for such an outcome, Ten Hag will be the biggest culprit.

So either Manchester United beats Liverpool in front of the Old Trafford crowd and salvages their poor season or they get battered by Klopp’s Liverpool or Erik Ten Hag's job becomes even less secure.

After Arsenal & Southampton, is United Next in Liverpool’s FA Cup Conquest?

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have had a much tougher run to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup than their opponents first having had to beat Arteta’s Gunners, Norwich City and Southampton, and if they want to make it to the semis, they will have to repeat the same.

Although Liverpool failed to beat Erik Ten Hag’s side in the league earlier when the two sides met, a goalless stalemate at Anfield, Klopp will have to find a way past the Red Devils on Sunday if he wants to have that perfect goodbye season.

The greatest motivation for Liverpool going into this encounter will be that if they were able to beat an Arsenal side that has been incredible this season along with a Southampton side that has been great in the Championship, then they should be able to get the job done against the Red Devils.
