Fede, born on July 22nd, 1998, in Uruguay's capital city of Montevideo, is a standout in the football world. Despite not coming from a footballing family, his passion for the game was evident from a very young age. At just two years old, he convinced his father to install a goalpost in their living room, showing his determination to play the sport he loved.

Enrolling in a local academy, Unión Estudiantes Babies, at three years old, Fede's talent on the field was undeniable. Despite not being allowed to play official games until he turned six, he showcased his skills in unofficial matches, with his mother even changing his diapers during halftime.

Fede's early success on the field was a result of his natural ability, as he excelled in scoring goals from long distances and displaying exceptional ball control. Even though he was promoted to play with older children at the age of five, he proved his worth by helping his team win the championship trophy in 2003. From a young age, Fede's passion, determination, and skill set him apart from his peers, laying the foundation for a promising football career.

During his time in Peñarol's youth system, Fede Valverde received a call-up to the Uruguay under-15 national youth team two years after joining the academy. He continued to impress during his time in the academy and in 2015, at the age of 17, he made his debut for Peñarol. Although he didn't become a regular starter immediately, he eventually earned a spot in the starting lineup for the last six games of the championship's Clausura stage, helping Peñarol win the title.

Valverde's talent caught the attention of big European clubs, with Barcelona, Chelsea, and Arsenal showing interest. After a trial at Arsenal, he ultimately signed with Real Madrid for around 5 million EUR. He started his time with Real Madrid Castilla, where he became a regular starter and impressed his coaches with his performances.

In order to continue his development, Valverde was loaned to La Liga side Deportivo La Coruña in June 2017. Despite the club's eventual relegation that season, he featured in 25 matches and gained valuable experience. Upon his return to Real Madrid, he was included in the 2018/19 preseason squad and caught the eye of new manager Julen Lopetegui, who promoted him to the senior team at just 20 years old.

Fede's journey with Real Madrid has been nothing short of remarkable. He began his career with the club making his debut on the prestigious Champions League stage against Viktoria Plzeň at the Bernabéu. Despite starting off with mostly substitute appearances during his first season, Fede's breakthrough came in the 2019-2020 season under the managerial return of Zinedine Zidane. He solidified his position as a key player for Madrid, highlighted by his stunning goal against Eibar.

However, it was his selfless act in the Supercopa de España final against Atlético Madrid that truly endeared him to the fans. Fede's sacrifice in getting sent off for denying a goal-scoring opportunity ultimately led Real Madrid to victory in the penalty shootout, securing the title. This moment solidified his status as a fan favorite.

Although the following season had its disappointments with Madrid missing out on major trophies, Fede's determination and resilience shone through. In the 2021-22 season, he played a crucial role in the club's triumphant campaign, contributing to victories in the La Liga, Supercopa, and Champions League. His ability to perform in big games was evident with key goals and assists in crucial moments.

Fede's growth continued into the 2022-23 season, where he showcased his best goal-scoring form with 12 goals and seven assists. His standout performances helped Madrid secure the FIFA Club World Cup and Copa del Rey titles, solidifying his status as an output monster from midfield. Fede's contributions have been instrumental in Madrid's success, and he continues to prove himself as a vital player for the club.

Triumph in the Face of Adversity

The 25-year-old's work ethic is truly exceptional, setting him apart as a standout player for one of the world's premier clubs. Fede's relentless energy on the field is unmatched, showcasing a level of commitment that makes it seem like Real Madrid has an extra player on the pitch. His stamina has earned him the nickname of a "three-lunged midfielder," as he tirelessly covers every inch of grass from the first minute to the last.

Not only is Fede known for his incredible work rate, but he also displays remarkable versatility. While his primary position is as a right midfielder, he seamlessly transitions to roles on the right wing, as a number six, or even as a right back. In recent seasons, he has excelled as a false right winger, forming a dynamic front three with Benzema and Vinicius. His ability to contribute in the final third, as evidenced by his assist against Liverpool, and provide defensive support for the right back highlights his all-around skill set.

Fede's tactical awareness is another key asset, consistently positioning himself effectively to create scoring opportunities or disrupt the opponent's attacks. His exceptional dribbling and shooting abilities further enhance his impact on the game, as demonstrated by his memorable goal against Mallorca.

With the addition of Fede alongside Aurélien Tchouaméni and Bellingham, Real Madrid has assembled a youthful and determined quartet that is poised to dominate European football for years to come.
